01 July 2021

Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha LLC, an enterprise of Rosneft Oil Company, released more than 730,000 whitefish fry (peled) into a flow of the Akhtaranda River, continuing work to replenish the bioresources of the Vilyuy reservoir in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

One of Rosneft’s main priorities is the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems in the regions where the Company operates, including the replenishment of fish resources. Releasing the fry into their natural habitat is part of the aquatic bioresources artificial reproduction programme designed to preserve the biological diversity and to increase the fish population.

It is an annual event of Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha to release fry into the Vilyuy reservoir in the Mirninsky district, a traditional environmental campaign. More than 2.5 million whitefish fry have been released in six years. The number has already surpassed 3.2 million this year.

The fry is raised at a specialised fish farm, with water specially taken from the Vilyuy reservoir, at the request of the Company.

To achieve the best environmental performance, Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha is improving its approaches to environment-oriented activities and increasing the scale of ecological measures. The enterprise focuses on the environmental safety of its production facilities and the preservation of the unique nature of the region where it operates. The enterprise’s employees take an active part in landscaping and area cleaning projects, as well as in the nationwide clean-up events, Clean Banks and Green Spring.

Moreover, Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha is conducting reforestation activities in the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). It is planned to plant 200,000 seedlings on more than 100 hectares of land in the Lenskiy district this year.
